You find a good travel companion, to share good and bad moments of the journey.
You decide where you want to go, what you want to see.
You spot on a map the places you want to visit and then you try to connect them, so as to know where you go first and where you will travel next.
You see if these destinations connect by Eurorail or Eurobus and make the relevant reservations.
Make sure you have a valid passport and check with your Embassy to see if you need visa for any of the countries you want to visit.
Bring with you all medication you need, your eye glasses, sun glasses, jockey cap, make sure you have Euros in travellers checks.
Wish you a nice trip!

http://www.statravel.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/uk_division_web_live/
No matter if you are a student or over 26 yrs old. They would be able to provide all and every information possible. Insurance too.
Wishing you all the best and make sure you have all the essentials too.
Passport to start with, then cash or credit card for emergency. Along with some basic stuff.
You need to also plan out where you want to go and whats your budget!!!
Wishing you all the best and have a very joyful holiday. :)

You can either go backpacking in Europe on Eurorail or by Eurobus.. there is a busabout.com that you can check out. For overnight stay you can checkout bed and breakfast service or try out campsites in rural areas. Campsites does have proper facilties such as grocery stores, internet service, toilet facilities, some bigger sites also includes tennis court.. etc.
you need a sleeping bag for sure, travellers cheques preferrably in Euro dollars, but do note some countries uses their own currency, you can check http://europa.eu.int/euro/ for the relevant countries using euro dollars.
Being a first timer in Europe, you should plan your route, and follow the route as close as possible to avoid side track. u can allow flexibility by booking the first night stay and the first route before travelling.
have fun.. bon voyage

Well, there are many options, mainly depending upon your will and weather! For example, from now on, the weather is becoming strange for Central and North Europe. You could easier travel in Italy, Iberian and Greece!

First you need a back pack. LOL
Get your self a Euro pass for the trains. You save money with this, plus you can sleep on the train on longer rides. I back packed Europe for 22 years straight. have fun and good luck. You can im me or email me if you like. I can tell you cheap places to eat or sleep ,as low as 15 dollars for a room. or 380 a monthh for a apartment.

Get a passport. Apply for one tomorrow if you haven't yet.
Read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
And get a Lonely Planet or Rough Guide to each country you plan to visit.
