If there are no trees how can it be a forest?

I have a two option answer here....

1) No, without trees there are no leaves, twigs, branches or anything on the ground that would cause a sound to be made if someone was to fall.

2) Yes. He says "where the F are all the trees"?

If there are no trees in that forest, can he be sure that he really is falling? Can he be sure he even exists?

No trees, no forest.
I am sure he will make a sound in the forest if there was one. But he may still make a sound if he just falls.

So, that would mean that this forest was destroyed by loggers... and that if a man would fall, his sound would be heard by any remaining wildlife.
