As much as I hate to admit it
they are still the yankees
and they always find a way to win in October.
I am hoping Minnesota faces them in the first round.
It is my belief that The Twins have a better chance to beat them
then The Tigers do.
Jim Leyland has The Tigers (and thier fans) believing they can win it all....but facing The Yankees is like facing a IRS audit---
it's not something I look forward too.

In this age of many-tiered playoffs, no one is certain of going to the end of the World Series. The Braves for 14 years won only once. The Yankees had some more potent lineups the past few years and have not won the series in 5 years, so anything can happen. That is the beauty of baseball--any team has an equal chance through a key play, a clutch moment, an unexpected injury, etc.

I don't think any team wants to face the Yankees. Nobody really has anymore than 2 really good pitchers and most only have one. If Kenny Rogers has to pitch in Yankee Stadium he will melt before your eyes. The Twins have Santana and that's it. The A's probably have the best pitching staff, next to the Yankees. In the NL, pitching is weak all around. Pedro gets consistently b*tch slapped by the Yankees, Weaver will also melt in Yankee Stadium, Pads pitching is inconsistent, Phillies best pitcher is a rookie and the Dodgers have nothing. Add to that that nobody has the deep roster that the Yankees have and that a lot of their players are coming back from injury and are fresh, you're looking at a team that will be very tough to beat. As long as Johnson and Mussina stay healthy for the Yankees, they will be very tough to beat.

No one ever wants to face the Yankees. Certainly not at Yankee Stadium. Too much history. All those pennant and world series flags flying all over the place. Just knowing that Ruth, DiMaggio, Maris, Mantle, Jackson, Mattingly and many others played there. That's a lot to deal with. The only chance a visiting team really has is if they face the Bombers in a short series. The first round evens the playing field just a little. Anything can happen in a 5 game set.

No one ever wants to face the Yankees. They score over 7 runs a game and their era isnot too shabby this year. If the starters can get into the 7th, they will be unbeatable. A note for Joe Torre... Do not put Farnsworth, or any of those other scrubby bastards in unless the Yanks are up by atleast 5!!!

I'll be on the level with you buddy my friend. I don't want the Tigers anywhere near the Yankees. I hold vigil that the Tigers win the Central and draw the Athletics in the LDS.
