I think it has more to do with fewer whites pushing themselves in High School and College athletics to get the conditioning and practice necessary over and above raw talent to make it into the Big Leagues. I think a lot of whites realize the odds are stacked against them and can pursue comfortable corporate careers, which is less of an option with young black men.

IF blacks have any genetic superiority to whites in terms of athletics, and that is an enormous IF, then it would have to be more productive and efficient sweat glands that allow a more regulated body temperature. The real difference between blacks and whites is in terms of their skin melatonin and temperature tolerances. Being a tropical population, blacks can take the heat a bit better.

It's pretty well documented that most genetic talent distributions are pretty uniform across all racial groups, the only glaring differences being disease resistance with Native Americans and Australians being on the short end of the stick. This is because of long exposure to diseases from domestic animals in the old worlders. Some genetic diseases are also population specific, like sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis.

What was the question again?

Genetically gifted...compared...hmmm

From a college player now coaches perspective...
i am going to stretch way out there and say -

no I don't.

I think any athlete that goes pro, does so because he has a "genetic gift" both physically as well as emotionally.

Regardless of his race.

Probably not, and I've got an example. If there blacks are genetically superior for athletics you would expect them to dominate all areas of athletics. But look at the NHL, there aren't that many black hockey players. Look at Olympics sports such as swimming, diving, figuring skating, speed skating, cycling, pro surfing, tennis, and golf (yes I know about Tiger woods, but one player isn't a indication of a racial advantage, besides name another black golfer).

Logic would dictate if blacks are genetically better able to perform they should win all those sports, but they don't. Perhaps you are too focused on football and basketball.

I herd chris rock say that white slave holders breeded slaves to make "super Slaves" which would make sense

I think that our bodies adapt threw generations and black people have always been more active than eveybody else (hunting for food, working hard in the hot sun) which would kinda make sense too
Thats just what I think

For the most part yes, but most white athletes are gifted more intelligently than black athletes ie Michael Vick or Brad Johnson...Vick is way more talented but Johnson is much smarter...just one example. Or Vince Young, he'll prolly be horrible b/c he isnt smart enough to read defenses..and its not so much the case in MLB but most def. is in the NBA b/c the NBA is not a "team" sport for the most part....

shouldnt this question be asked in the social sciences part of this? there is no answer to the question you posed. all people could give is thier opinions. i could say look at babe ruth, and that could be countered by hank arron. i could say cassius clay and you could say jack dempsey. we could go back and forth to the end of time and in the end its all an opinon, an opinion that will piss people off, start fights, and lead to more stress.

or i could be completly off the mark here and im making more of it than i should, but really shouldnt this be asked in the social sciences part??

btw to give my lay opinion on the question, training, studying, and the type of sport chosen have more to it than genetics.
oh and did you mean african american athletes?

sorry to answer your question with a question

I know it's not politically correct but....of course they are. And for the reasons stated already. Slaves, and as one poster stated for survival in hunting through generations in Africa.
Add that to the socio-economic situation here in the US, and their fight for survival here, you get a driven--gifted athlete.
Sure not all Afro-Americans are super athletes, nor are all "whites" rich, intelligent, nerds.

No, I don't think so. I think socioeconomic factors are more important. It's not like anyone accuses white people to being genetically predisposed towards ice hockey and yachting.

There are many tribes or sub races of black people, just like all caucasions are not alike. Asion races are different from each countryalso.
Some types are best at one thing. Collegas gave scholorships to tall people to get them into BB teams.
This crap about all races being alike is lies.
