No heating pads or hot bathtubs. Our skin is usually a lot more sensitive when pregnant and it'll burn easily with a heating pad, and a hot tub isn't recommended because it will raise your body temp. A big no no in early pregnancy.
Anyway this is what I do. (I'm at 26wks with baby #3 and my hips and pelvis are already killing me too.) I bought one of those really thick foam camping pads from the local Fred Meyer, you can probably get them from Wal-Mart as well, I put that on top of my bed and that's what I sleep on. At times though I still have to move it to the couch because it can get uncomfortable on my bed. (Personally I think we just need a new bed.) I try not to lay on my back, I try to keep my walking to a minimum, I try not to stand for long periods of time, I get my fiance to help massage my lower back, and I put my feet up when I get home at the end of the day. If it gets really bad my doc said that I can take 2 ibuprofen to help ease the pain and swelling. Other than that we pretty much have to deal with it. Hope some of those ideas help. Good luck!!

Im in exactly the same boat, except Im 8 months pregnant. My only sollutions are a hot shower or warm bath, paracetamol and a heat pack. My wheat pack has been my best friend so I definitely recommend buying one. They're only about $20 from a chemist and you just stick it in the microwave for 2 minutes and voila! Also one thing that can help if you can manage it is to get on all fours. Sometimes that will shift the baby off the nerve and give you some relief. It really helped me at about 22 weeks when my son was lying on my sciatic nerve. Lol Im sorry I cant be of more help but in pregnancy there's such a limit to what you can do. Its infuriating and heartbreaking at the same time. But the tips I gave you can help so give them a try. Good luck :) I hope one of them works for you :)

Well of course sleep with a pillow between your legs to make them squared with your hips. And put one behind your back and hug one as well. I have back problems too. You can go to a maternity store( I know Motherhood has them) and buy a brace. They are made especially for pregnant women. It straps around your back and under your belly. It really helps take the pressure off your back. I tried it on and wouldn't take it off! I just wore it out of the store! My aunt also said she thinks it helps prevent stretch marks because it holds your belly up instead of letting it weigh down. I don't know if that's true or not, but heck when it comes to stretch marks I'll try anything!
Also stretching helps! There are alot of stretches that are recommended while your pregnant that also relieve back pain. Such asTailor sitting Squat and wall slide, and Pelvic tilt. I have a packet that gives instructions if you'd like it, just e-mail me (click on my picture and click e-mail on the right hand side.) and I will e-mail it back to you!

Im pretty sure that it is safe to take tylenol when you are pregnant ask a pharmacy first though to make sure but Im almost positive that you can and lie on your side with a very large pillow between your legs and maybe a warm heating pad on your back but dont take any hot baths or a hot heating pad that could be bad and dangerous for the baby good luck

Well when I was pregnant I use to work in a warehouse setting so their was a lot of lifting, bending and twisting, we worked long hours so I would go home take a hot bath and just soak. After that I would put Muscle Rub on and Then I would use a heating pad and that would relax everything...Try that once!

Chiropractic has and will work. Alot of people think it doesn't help. Think about it, the power that made the body heals the body. I guarantee it! I work for a Chiropractor for 8 years now and I tell you that the expecting mothers are so grateful their friends and family referred them to Chiropractic. You're baby will also thank you. Just make sure you see the right type of Chiro. A doctor that sees a family practice. If you'd like you can tell me what state you're in and I can help you find one.

Well Im 5 months pregnant (22 weeks) and beginning to feel stress on my lower back and legs... I would recommend back pressure relieveing exercises. This site has some great stretches. I personally do the exercises every day and feel extreme relief.

Place a warm water bottle on it. Do not take hot baths. If you do take your temerature often. You need to get out if your temp reaches 102 ^ It is not safe. I have hip problems also. I would just "try" to stay off that side when sleeping and took tylenol when it really bothered me.

Take a warm bath, use a heating pad,and stay off your feet as much as you can because what's going on is you are put extra weight on that part of your body.
