i am looking to buy a laptop, i will be using it to download music, make music, and internet surfing, what would be a good brand and model for those purposes?

if you're planning to download or create wav files you're going to need as much memory as you can possibly get, the brand is not the best guide to selecting the pc, rather look for the features you're going to be needing. Hardware is often the same in different brands - intel, ect.
For conversion or copy of audio and video files you'll need the best sound card available and make sure the pc has adaquate usb ports and plug-in jacks to make the connections to remote copy sources.

Go for a Toshiba laptop. They are reliable and cheap. Any of the Celeron models should be more than enough for what you need it for. I found one at Best Buy for only $399 about two months ago.

You need a laptop with More Hard drive space. I would recommend 100GB or above, and good RAM 512 or above. If you are looking for cheap laptop, you can see very good deals on this website
