Active X controls are little programs that can either allow you to do certain specific tasks (for example edit a picture online) or if they are from a suspicious website.. they could pretty much ruin your computer.

Microsoft's error reporting is an optional thing to do. If you want you can tell Microsoft about your error, or if you want don't send them anything. In my case I have Error Reporting disabled.

If you want to turn it off follow these steps:

Press the Windows Logo key plus the Pause/Break key at the same time.

It will take you directly to the "System Properties" menu.

Click on the "Advanced" tab

Click on "Error Reporting" at the bottom.

Select "Disable Error Reporting".

Click OK and that's it! You'll never see the Microsoft Error Report window again.

Sometimes they are necessary like on Windows (or Microsoft) Updates where they are needed forscanning for updates.

On the other hand, others should be used at your own risk. They are potentially deadly to your computer. I try to avoid using them except in the above instance where its necessary.
