It's only 3 weeks into the season, yet there are some big surprise and high picks that become our worst nightmare, so heres the breakdown of my studs and duds of 2006, heading into Week 4:
Studs:
1) Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia - The city of brotherly love can embrace again with the plague of T.O. gone. McNabb is healthy and performing again with a deep receiving crop, which leads more opportunity for Westbrook to run more and involved more in the passing offense w/o T.O. hogging for the ball. He's currently tied for the lead in rushing TD and lead's all RB in receiving yard. We knew that he was a multi-purpose RB that doesn't produced flashy numbers, but he's always a consistent performer, albiet he's an injury-prone RB. With a team that's finally rejunivated, Westbrook could have a breakout year.
2) Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia - His mental war with T.O. might still go on, but McNabb isn't complaining about this season, which makes fantasy owners happy who drafted him in the later rounds. With a recieving crop including new #1 guy Donte Stallworth, as well as Reggie Brown, TE L.J. Smith, and RB Westbrook, McNabb is poised to rebound from the "Madden" curse and try to lead the Eagles to another Super Bowl run, leading the NFC in passer rating (3rd in the NFL), 1st in passing yards, 2nd in TD passes, and most importantly, only one interception this season, which makes fantasy owners real happy.
3) Eli Manning, NY Giants - Forget that he still hasn't learn to stop passing to the "other" team (5 INT), but he's has more TD than big brother Peyton, which means something to fantasy owners. He's currently neck-in-neck with big brother for the passer rating, but has already outperformed Peyton in only his third year in the league. If the INT stops, then we might have a new Manning that dominates fantasy football.
4) Peyton Manning, Indianapolis - As usual, he's contending for the MVP again, which makes him the only guarenteed 1st round pick that's actually peforming at value. With the running game still in development, Manning is asked to throw more, which makes fantasy owners happy whoever owns Peyton, as well as Harrision and Wayne. Notch up another great season for him.
5) Brett Favre, Green Bay - If he's going to play his last season, then it's better to be on top, which fantasy owners wern't counting on to begin the season. But he has defied old age and a rebuilding team to get back on track to fantasy stardom. Although he's not going to keep this pace up, don't be surprise if he finish his last year as the top fantasy QB.
Now for the Duds (those who are high price/no production):
1) Larry Johnson, Kansas City - Wasn't he suppose to lead fantasy teams to stardom after his run last season? The guy that was supposed to replace Priest Holmes as "the" back is getting his usual yardage, but the team is a mess. Willie Roaf retire, which force the offensive line (one of the best in the NFL) to change the dynamics and lost QB Trent Green to a concussion in Week 1, which force LJ to be the focal point for defense. Considering the yards he put up in 2 weeks, he's considerably an underperformer, but he's not injured like...
2) Shaun Alexander, Seattle - The reigning MVP was supposed to perform like a #1 pick, but all fantasy owners are getting is shotty numbers and a broken toe that will keep him out a couple of weeks. Look's like the "Madden" curse strikes another victim.
3) Chad Johnson, Cincinnatti - I thought the mohawk was working (Honestly). Anyway, he's not getting the attention from Palmer and now trailing most of the top recievers in yards. In comparision, Steve Smith has 112 yards in his first game back (1 game compared to CJ, who has 137 yards in 3 games). Most recievers who wern't taken in the first few rounds, such as Lavernes Coles, Antonio Bryant, Musin Muhammad, and Braylon Edwards has already outperformed CJ. He's bound for a comeback with T.J. back to gain attention among opposing defense.
4) Terrell Owens, Dallas - As always, he's a crybaby who once insulted the Cowboys by standing on the star (the field) after scoring a TD while with the 49ers (Emmith Smith later retaliated in that game by doing the same thing). How ironic that he's w/ the Cowboys now and now an underachiever for any fantasy teams. Not getting on Bill Parcells good side might be one problem and neither will he change his attitude.
5) Lamont Jordan, Oakland - Don't blame his for the egnimic offense. Brooks is a bust as usual and Moss is doing the same thing as always, which leaves Jordan the odd man out. He's going to rebound someday, but now it's not the time.
The big surprise that could be fantasy prospects come 2007:
1) Rex Grossman, Chicago - The Bears has been waiting for this kid to break out and their patience has finally been answered. Currently 5th in the NFL in passer rating, Grossman is finally carrying this once-egnimic offense into the promise land and with the Bears sharing the same philosophy in defense, don't be surprise if Grossman finish as the top QB come 2007.
2) David Carr, Houston - The so-called "Mr. Give-Me-a-Sack" has finally paid off with a potential breakout season since Houston won the NFL sweepstake over Los Angeles. With the offensive line giving a makeover, Carr finally has the time to pass the ball, which make guys like AJ and Moulds attractive fantasy options. The running game is still miss, but if he can keep this up, he's worth the wait.
3) Marques Colston, New Orleans - Joe Horn, you have a phone call on the end zone, and it's from another team. Colston is starting to become a fantasy factor with old age creeping up to Horn and Brees always like to pass to tall recievers (remembers Antonio Gates?). Neverthless, Colston could become NO new #1 receiver by years end.
4) Alex Smith, San Francisco - What if Matt Leinart didn't stay for one more year? Smith, who was the only popular QB in the 2005 draft at that time, was rushed into the system and faltered. But his mistake has turn into a learning lesson, one on which he took and turning it into a decent season with the emergence of Frank Gore and Antonio Bryant. Smith could be a decent QB this season but not top-10.
5) Greg Jennings, Green Bay - He replaced Robert Ferguson as the #2 guy in the passing offense and coul be this year's version of Javon Walker if he could keep this up because Driver is not #1 receiver material.

How could Moss, Alexander, Johnson, and TO be busts? You are a moron. And Kitna as a sleeper? Come on dude get serious...
You named 2 of the top 5 receivers and 2 of the top 5 RB's in the game today as busts...wow...
Busts: Kijana Carter, Andre Ware, the other QB from the Univ. of Houston...if you are talking about players in the NFL today how about Chris Simms, Kyle Boller, Ron Dayne??
Sleepers: Marquis Colston, Brodie Croyle, Brandon Jacobs
