I live in Arkansas also. Just to put on the underlayment and shingles is $20 per square.
Tear off and remove with no deck replacement is usually 4 times the install price per square or $80 per square.
With out knowing your pitch I cannot give you a ballpark price, but then again that would only be good here in my state.

For tear off, new underlayment, steep roof and architectural type shingles you could be looking at $400 to $500 a square.

We did our roof , last year .
This year we did our cottage roof with shingle , just as you said.
We went to Lowes and Menards and Home depot. get them to compete against each other for best price. If you put the roof on yourself, you can save a lot of money. If the roof is high and steep make sure you wear safety equipment.

you say tear off woodshakes refelt and 30 yr shing le put on steep roof do you have decking under the wood shakes i live in arkansas do you just want labor price or material and labor ? we do alot of roofing if its 20 squares material and labor about 2800.00 to 3000.00 that would just be roofing no decking . if you have to redeck house you will be looking at 7500.00 to 8000.00 if it were here i dont know the going rate there but some one in the roofing field should be able to tell you what is going for there or your insurance co. should be able to tell you good luck
