Have seen a logo with a Tiger on it I am pretty sure as someone else has stated War Eagle is just a "battle cry" and mostly done at football games as for the Plainsmen Announcers break that one out every once in a while usually when they want to show they're from Bama As Auburn is on the "Plains" in the great state of Alabama they should also go by "A damn fine Football team" IMO

Go Heels

Their official nickname is the Tigers. The other names you've heard have been hung on them by fans and sportswriters and such down through the years that became tradition.

It is just their tradition with all the nicknames as they are the Tigers. Georgia Tech is known as the Rambling Wreck but they are the Yellow Jackets.

They have more than one nickname and there's nothing wrong with that.
