I would suspect wherever you live Ignorant people with poor esteem always focus hate on another culture that is not their own. Let's see there is Rwanda, Laos, Iraq,Ireland, India etc......... Please do not stereotype people from the South. I was raised by a father that has never been a racist ever and a racist mother [always]. My brother is a physician in the North and is totally racist. I am a Southerner and am a dentist and follow my father's beliefs. Please understand that many of us from the South believe the Civil war has not ended and was about economics not slavery. So maybe when I stereo type The North as carpetbaggers when they move here and hide my internal belief in the superiority of being a Southerner I am culturally racist not dependent on skin color but geography

"The South" isn't a person and is not capable of racism. People all over the world are prejudiced in some way to some degree. Lumping KKK member with me just because I live in the South is not fair to me or anyone I know. I am an equal opportunity hater. I hate hate haters the most.

Son, racism is still a major problem everywhere in the United States, not just the "old south". There are a lot of folks working hard to eradicate it - but it's likely to remain a problem as long as there are humans on this planet. Good topic for your Master's thesis, right?

Yes depending on where you go, but much of the south's social standards are changing since many people who lived their lives like that are changing how they think due to circumstances that forced such a change on them. Then you have gentrification where single race communities are now slowly becoming racially diverse and whole communities are now more accepting of other ethnic groups.
