I know this girl from my university, she's not really a friend but I had 2 classes with her last year and this year I have one class with her. My problem is that she hasn't bought the books for the course that we share, but I have already bought the books, and she asked me if she could borow them to photocopy so it would be MUCH cheaper for her. The thing is, I feel like I don't want to lent her the books, cuz they cost ALOT of money and I'm not well-off, so why can't she just buy them herself instead of being a mooch? But I already told her that I would bring the books tomorrow for her, but I have second-doubts. I'll just tell her tomorrow that I forget the books, and what else can I say to let her know that I don't wanna give them to her? What's a nice way or even a great lie to tell her so that I don't have to give them to her so she can photocopy them?

I'm not a mean person so I don't wanna hear any mean comments about me. I've always done nice stuff like this in the past, but it has got me nowhere. I hate people who try to use me.

Just tell her that it wouldn't be fair for her to photocopy your books when you had to pay a lot for them...just like everybody else. She is no better than anybody else so why should she get off w/ free books...not fair...So simply just say i wouldn't be right for you to let her copy your books because they cost so much and that maybe she should just go buy them herself like everybody else does....

I totally understand your problem. I hate it when people does the same thing to me; why can't you do your own work? I think, however, telling her how you feel would be a great way to start. I know everyone always say that, but it actually works. Even ifshe beomes a @#$%* about it, her problem, not yours. GOOD LUCK!

What a b'tch. If she's not even your friend, why don't you just completely ignore her. Just tell her straight to her face, "Go to the store, and buy your own books!"

tell her that it breaks the binding down to lay them on the copier and you don't want your books ruined so that you can have the option of sereselling them after the class is over
