oo! we're just reviewing this in my class now! Both have symbols, variables, and numbers, but only equations have an equal sign

an algebraic expression stands for representation of something. a number of corn for $1/10 corn cobbs

so,
x($1/10) price for any number of corn you like. A REPRESENTATION of something.
