Given the likelihood of a biological and/or genetic basis to sexual orientation, it would appear that homosexuality isn't a "temptation from Satan". In every culture, roughly 2-5% of people are homosexual. This phenomenon has also been observed in the animal kingdom. If homosexuality was a sin, then why would God allow 2-5% of every culture to have homosexual orientation?

Most homosexuals will tell you they were always homosexual, and never had a choice. Some homosexuals will pursue various therapies/groups in order to try and become straight - known as the exgay movement. The high failure rate of these therapies, alone eliminates any idea that sexual orientation is a conscious choice.

Your group of friends are probably part of a religious based ex-gay ministry. These groups are religious extremists and they prey upon people's religious beliefs in order to frighten them into compliance i.e. refraining from homosexual behaviour. Members are usually told that acting out on homosexual feelings is "turning away from God and following the devil,". In addition, members are usually told that "psychology is the devils work,". The idea of the latter is to cut people off from modern psychological theories - which conclude that homosexuality isn't a disorder. Success testimonies are hard to verify, and most experts agree that "successful" outcomes merely consist of convinncing homosexuals to abstain from homosexuality and opt for a life of celibacy instead.

Some people do appear to "change" their sexual orientation, usually the result of a naturally occuring change, the nature of bisexuality for some, or the result of something not attributed to therapy.

Highly improbable. More likely they are a product of your physiology.

Lets say for the sake of arguement that it is Satan, and that he is tempting you. Remember - temptation isn't sin, yielding to temptation is sin. And also "There is no temptation that has siezed you except that which is common to man; and God is faithful, He will never permit you to be tempted beyond what you can bare, but instead will provide a way of escape" 1st Corinthians 12:24

Now - lets say for the sake of argument that it is not Satan. It isn't really a temptation at all - it is a physical desire, that is natural and a part of who you are as a person. Why torture yourself, live the life you have been given. Have the intimacy you want and should have with whomever it is you are attracted to. God can be in your life; gay or not. Follow your Heart, it is the most important guide you have - not your ignorant friend's speculative answers regarding the devil.

Best of luck to you; in whatever path you choose.

Choose better friends, sunshine. Ones who live in /this/ century.

Homosexuality is a genetic variation, which tends to become prominent when the human population becomes too great in a location. You'll note, I didn't say "disease" or "condition" because it's neither. Nor is it a "sin" or a "temptation from Satan".

Homosexuality, it's said, is handed down from the maternal line. And it most often manifests in second sons; firstborn sons are likelier to be straight than gay, although who gets born with a desire to sing showtunes and watch Judy Garland films is still pretty much a genetic crapshoot, beyond the ken of science.

At this moment.

It's a similar song where women and lesbianism are concerned. But who's gay and who's straight is pretty much determined at birth.

Not in Hell.

And certainly not among the religionistic bigoted hompohobes hanging around here on Yahoo Answers.

Firstly, are your friends in a cult?
I don't believe satan exists and if he did that would be a pretty lame temptation as it only effects about 10% of the population!

Homosexuality is around as long if not before the bible.

Find new friends that are open minded and not corrupted!

excuse me for being blunt here, but what the ****?!?!? Sorry, I have to say that your friends (in this instance anyway) are twats & don't know a damn thing!!!! are people still seriously thinking that homosexuality is some satanic byproduct?!?!? Get a ******* grip people!!!! ( and don't even start me on the bible thumpers!!!!) Look, not yelling at you here, but really.....look at it this way. Love is love. It doesn't discriminate. If you believe in heaven or hell, you will be judged by your ability to love & be a good person. Discrimination IS a form of hatred. That I have to say is more of a Satanic byproduct than homosexuality!

This is almost certainly come from well intentioned but misguided Christians who have taken 7 or 8 passages in the Bible (and these passages are the only ones) that seem to say homosexuality as wrong.

As a gay Christian I have had to contend with this type of homophobia myself, because that is what it is.

I can recommend the following link from the Soulforce web site that shows that being homosexual is not wrong.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Never heard or seen Satan though had many homosexual temptations, nearly every one of which I have succumbed to.

Does that make me a bad person?

No. Just someone who likes to suck off men.

No they are not.

For a start I don't believe in satan.

Secondly, homosexuality _is_ natural. There have always been gay people, there always will be. It may be a way to control the population size. Who knows for sure?

Between two concenting adults, where's the harm? No where. It's not nearly as bad as eating an apple.

Homosexual desires really have nothing to do with outside influence, a gay person is born gay..fact of life. The same way person is born left/right handed with blond hair or green eyes, its all in the genetic makeup of our life.
