I am 35 weeks along and I was checked out by the doc. about 2 1/2 weeks ago and they said that I am still closed, high and thick. Recently the past two days I have been having sharp little pains down in my pelvic area, and I have been told its just round ligament pains. Today, I have pains in my back and a few braxton hicks along with the pains. Later on this evening I started having pressure on my hip bones and a really hot sensation down there. Well I had a mt. dew with supper at my parents house (havent had one in forever) and he started getting active, it felt as if he was trying to push himself out down there. I felt him push really hard and then I felt a pop..made me jump so hard. Its been 30 min and no water, so I dont think it was my water. However those pains are getting worse and like they are constant everytime I stand up. Has anyone experienced this? I have an appointment tomorrow at 3pm should I wait till then or go to the ER tonight?

that all depends on you, and what you feel safe doing....if you're feeling uncomfortable...i'd definately reccomend goinhg to the er. at least you can get a good nights sleep if you find out everything is ok...if this is your first pregnancy you're going to get a lot of these kind of pains...believe they're more in your head though than in your body. at this time toward the end any little pain can shoot a spark making you think that THIS IS IT, but definately have it cvhecked out....i know in my first pregnancy i went to the er more than i could count, but i'm glad i did...you get that satisfaction leaving which is much better than biting your nails at home waiting for your doctor in the morning....good luck....i wish you the best and hope everything will be ok!

Hi there,

Im a mother of four children. If the pains are not really bad I wouldnt go to the er or anything like that. If you can wait to see the Doctor I would do that. I had bad pains with my third child and I thought I was going to go into labor on the way home from my Doctors Apt. but they went away. If your worried about it and it really bothers you then you should to what makes you feel good. Sometimes when you start early labor it could go on for a couple of days, it can just be your cervix thinning out and all that other good stuff. Good luck! I hope everything turns out Ok and you have one beautiful in the end.

If you have not lost you mucus plug I wouldn't be as concerned. I sounds like the baby is just getting into position right now and it is really uncomforable. I does sound like ligament pains although I know that is not what you want to hear. I would call the doctor if you can no longer stand. With you first child it can take hours after real labor starts to even have the baby. I say that you just get lots of rest, sleep if you can. Stay home and wait it out.

Why do people always advise to go to the ER? Believe me, the ER staff does not want pregnant people of any gestation, they want heart attacks, strokes, anaphylactic shock, broken bones, GI bleeds, gunshot wounds and stabbings, that's why it's called the *Emergency* Department. The ER staff always calls the OB floor in a panic when the pregnant folks come in, they can't wait to get rid of them.

Unfortunately unless you are bleeding out, they do not want some 8 wk pregnant lady having a miscarriage, they will send home or send you to the on-call OB doc for a D&C, they cannot help you. And any pregnant woman over 20 weeks gestation they will send to the L&D floors for triage to ultimately be admitted to L&D, antepartum or sent home.

Anyway, in your case, call your hospital's L&D unit and tell them what you've told us. The nurses will triage you on the phone and if necessary, call your OB and/or tell you to come in. If you feel you need to be seen right away no matter what they say, however, skip the phone call and drive right over to the L&D unit at your hospital. You may need to enter through the ER if it's late at night but they will direct you to L&D.

If your water breaks, call the doctor immediately, and head for the hospital. The baby is probably getting into position for birth - and you will probably give birth soon. Mountain Dew has caffeine in it, which may make the baby more active.

Call your doc now. see what they say. i had contractions for a month before my son came a day late so he dropped yearly and i dilated that whole time. it might have been the baby dropping into place and pushing on places he or she shouldn't but call the doc first. they can tell you what it may be they've dealt with it all I'm sure.
