How can you get your Hamster to enjoy it's life. I don't want to get one yet becuase I'm worried it will be like my last one. She never played in her wheel or her rolly ball. That's what Hamster's are suppossed to do! And I want a Hamster who will be energetic but will also sit still and let me stroke it.

Syrian hamsters (also called golden, teddy bear, panda bear, etc) are solitary creatures, and are usually not as hyper active as dwarf hamsters can be.

All hamsters are nocturnal, and as such, will be MUCH more active at night than during the day.

A dwarf hamster (actually, a pair, not a single one) will be more active than a syrian if that is what you want. They are more likely to wake up and run around during the day, as well as running around in a ball. Dwarves are social creatures, though, and need to be kept in pairs (same sex pairs, unless you want babies).

Dwarves are often given a bad rep, but I've never found them to be any more ill tempered than a syrian hamster. Hand train them immediatly (any hamster you get should be hand trained immediatly, if you want them to be tame), and they are very affectionate creatures. Dwarves are much smaller than Syrians, and as such, can usually have 2 in the saem size cage you used for a single syrian hamster.

Well I consider you get a Dwarf Hamster. They love to run on there wheel! Expecialy at night! They also love to play in there balls! Some dont like to though. Ive had 2-3 dwarf hammies they all loved there ball and wheel,(i couldnt get them to stop running!) Dwarf Hamsters are cheap, they dont eat or drink alot, and you dont have to clean there cage as much. And if you want it to be happy buy it treats, pet it and hold it everyday. Buy it toys to play with. Make sure you never but ceder bedding it can kill them!
Another good thing about dwarf hamsters is that they dont bite. Everyone says they do but they really dont, unless your crule to them! My Dwarf Hamster has never bitt me before!

I'd say get a teddy bear hamster or a black bear hamster those are the most tame and energetic. All hamsters do need time to be tamed though. And try not to get them too young, more likley to get wet tail and thats no good. Dont get a dwarf one!!! They bite and are harder to tame. Exspecially a Russian Dwarf...if you want a dwarf go for a chinnese dwarf hamster.

Dwarf hams are active & fun but they can bite really bad!!! Get a regular one (Syrian) who is energetic in the pet shop - females are usually more energetic than males!!

Get a Syrian black bear hamster! They're sweet and active at night.
