With physical prowess at adolescents comes a robust sense of self worth. This lends itself naturally to confidence and high self esteem. Very little boundaries. Positive affect...
Socially, very confident in their cliques; being loud and cocky becomes the only way to draw more attention or hold the center of attention...which is what athletes are about after the competition aspect.
I was a varsity letterman my freshman year in High School...football, wrestling, swimming, later soccer and rugby.
I played 5 years of college football, I swam, I played tennis, I boxed for a year, and I was a rodeo clown for the collegiate cicuit....
Never did I think I was cool.
I do love sports though.

From the time athletes are in 4th grade, if they are good they are spoiled.
Here is an example:
A coach goes to a player's parents because he is on punishment and will miss the game. He talks the parents into letting the kid play but the player will get extra punishment from his parents and his coach.

Becuase they think that just because they are on a "team"in school that everyone loves them. This is only true if you are on the soccer team in your school. Still, even if you are on the soccer team it doesn't mean you arebetter than everybody else. It just means you are the most athletic.
