the must have black dress. if you're short, go with a knee length halter. if you are well endowed, get something that'll focus on your chest and not the rest of your body. but black is by far the most slimming of dress colors

If you want:
To look shorter: Avoid high heels, ankle or floor length dress, or anything mid thigh or higher. Knee length is best. Try an off the shoulder dress.
To make your shoulders look smaller: Get a V-Necked full skirted dress. Avoid halters, off the shoulders, spaghetti straps, and cap sleeves that draw the eye to your shoulders.
To make your bust/chest look smaller: V or scoop necked flared skirt. Avoid the same things as above, but also avoid belted and tight waisted styles that will emphasis your bust line.
To make your hips/butt/upper thighs look smaller: Empire waistlines, lighter brighter colors on top, flared skirt on the bottom. Avoid tight skirts but also overly full ones. A simple A-Line or something flirty that doesn't stand out on it's own works best to hide them.
To make legs/ankles look slimmer: Avoid mid calf skirts and fussy shoes that draw the eye down. Your skirt should hit the slimmest part of your leg, right below the knee. Your shoes should be simple and basic, no straps across the top or around the ankle to cut the leg line.

I can't really make any suggestion since I'm not sure of your body type, but use your best judgment based on what looks best in your closet. If your favorite tops are your halters, then find a halter top dress.
Good Luck!

You need more details, but any dress you decide on must be well fitted, if it is tight and pulls any where it will make you look bigger, and if it hangs like a tent it won't do anything for you either. A solid color V-neck with a drape fabric down the front creates a long line, maybe with a small pin, and matching shoes. This works well for a lot of body types.Any darker color, one fabric layer, non-shiney fabric. Look at Bridal sites this could help. Have fun at the dance!

if i wear going to homecoming i would opt for the 'little black dress' ... either strapless or a deep v neck with the hem just below the knee, black nylons and black shoes with an ankle strap. as for jewelry, big is in so i would a large drop crystal necklace if wearing a deep v dress or a black rope choker with a jewel piece if wearing a strapless. opt for chunky drop earrings too. with all that, do not wear a watch or bracelet not rings. the earrings and necklace are all you need. top it all off with a small black clutch purse that will hold just your esscentials. have fun!

a dress with an empire waist makes your torso appear longer, therefore making you look skinnier. Also things with a plunging neckline draw attention away from your tummy and make you look skinnier. black or dark colors are slimming and flowy, non clingy materials also will help.

Well, wear a cinch-corset but if you want smaller waist, slightly pushed-up breasts, and less fatty thighs, use Spanx...you can find them at Walgreens. Spanx shapes your thighs and stomach, to make you look thinner.
