They're almost the same thing, really. The pump in style has the exact same flanges as the Lactina (hospital grade pump, also by Medela) it's just built for more than one mother to be able to use it (Pump In Style is a single user pump only, even if you replace all tubing and flanges etc. it is not recommended for more than one user) and has a more durable motor that can stand up to heavy duty and long term use. I'm not sure if the suction power is better though, but I honestly don't know if that would make much of a difference because the Pump In Style is pretty powerful as it is. The pump in style costs about $200 while the Lactina costs about $1000 or so. Pump rentals (which would be the Lactina) generally are about $50 a month (usually less if you sign a longer term contract) so if you're planning on pumping more than a couple months, it's more cost effective to buy a Pump In Style rather than to rent the Lactina.

I used a Medela pump in style while I was working(for about 1 year), I used to pump 3 times a day at work, and it worked GREAT!! But now I am staying at home with my baby, I love using Avent Isis, it's so convenient and the result is about the same as PIS.

The Medela Pump In Style is better. Make sure to get the advanced. It has a button that regulates more natural pumping.

The hospital grade will always be better because it's made to be used for years by many many mummies. That said, Medela itself is the absolute best brand of breast pump going and I would buy (or rent)the 'pump in style' in a heartbeat for the simple fact that it WILL NOT damage your nipples and mimics the suckling action of a newborn baby, thereby producing the best 'letdown'.
Best of luck!

Depends on what mom will be using it for.
Medela PIS is great for regular pumping for working moms.
Rental (hospital grade) pumps are a MUST if the mother will be exclusively pumping. The pumps you buy may burn up the motor if you try to exclusively pump with them for too long. (Heard this DIRECTLY from a Medela representative at a workshop I attended.)
Avent Isis is great for a stay at home mom who may want to pump for occasional bottles or to mix some breastmilk in with homemade solid foods.

it is tough to maintain a sufficient milk furnish with unique pumping. in case you do not breastfeed in any respect, positioned money right into a sturdy wellbeing center grade apartment pump and get a double equipment. those are the only pumps meant to start the milk furnish. The wellbeing center might have one for you to apply in case you're there, and it somewhat is a sturdy thought to start pumping interior of a few hours of beginning and each 2-3 hours after that (day and night). in case you are able to shop up the pumping schedule and have a sturdy furnish, you are able to attempt between the sturdy high quality double electric pumps. Ameda, Hygeia, and Medela make surprising ones, and Lansinoh is sturdy besides. there is not any maximum suitable bottle or nipple, in basic terms those that mothers desire, and absolutely everyone seems to be diverse.
