how come some guys dont know anything about cars??

i guess because some of them arent really into cars.......but still......i know more than some guys....its scary.....its really weird, sometimes i might be trying to talk to a guy about cars and he gets lost in the conversations..........and then they will be like hey u know wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more than i do....it makes me mad.............i just wanna talk.......geeze............

i do my own independent study on foreign sports cars and american muscle......magazines and stuff..........

Notice there is a women making good time now in the Indy 500.

I agree that one big problem is too many boys are being raised by their unwed or divorced mom, and there is no man to teach them how a car works.

But, things are changing. When I was a young adult, in the early 60's, any male who didn't know about cars might as well, uh, cut it off for all practical purposes, cause he wasn't gonna' get to use it.

That meant we dreamed and schemed from age 14 how to get our own car, even if it was -- yuk -- an old Studebaker.

Twenty years later, young men told me while it was necessary to have some sort of transportation, which car was not important. But, when a girl came to your place, there had better be a world class hi-fi system with good music on it, or he might as well cut it off...

My guess is there is something more important to these young, limp-wristed wimps that takes their time. Drugs? Autoeroticism? I have no idea, but there is something.


I do have a question, though I probably won't see the answer. Did you learn it on your own? If not, was it a man or woman who taught you about cars? It would be really different if you were taught by your mom, though I suppose that could happen.

I'm glad you know a lot about cars. I know a lot myself, and I do as much of my own work on my cars as I can. I just installed all four struts on my Neon and saved myself well over $500 by doing it myself. What makes me mad is that a car is the second biggest investment a person makes, and a lot of people, men and women alike, don't know the first thing about them. I mean, you don't have to know everything about cars, just the basics, but there are people who know absolutely nothing, even about their own car. These are the people who crooked mechanics absolutely love to death. I believe that auto shop should be a required course in high school.

Couple of reasons----
Cars accessible to today's guys just aren't as interesting as the cars we had in the 50's and 60's and even 70's. Its tough to tweak 'em with out being a rocket scientist.

Computers, video games, other digital items.....need I say more?

Here's a theory: They don't get breast fed anymore.

No, it's not a joke. Many things are not the same anymore.
They don't know anything about thier vehicles. And they can't sew or cook either.

It's a lack of supporting influences starting at birth.

I feel you.I love cars.I work in the medical field but I talk about cars all the time.
Not all guys know about computers for example.Same thing not all women know about cooking

If you buy into stereotypes of men and women, then I suppose this question has no real answer. It's like a guy getting all angry if a woman doesn't know a lot about lipstick; to each his (and her, hehe), own!

How come some girls don't know how to cook? Obviously, we don't all fit the stereotypes that society foists on us. There are PLENTY of guys that DO know about cars. You just need to modify your search parameters.

i have a lot of friends that dont no nothin about cars and one he doesnt no anything he's trying to do stuff to his car, sound system, stuff like that and he doesnt add rims he got wheel covers on there and 3 of them are gone
