In my opinion these two words characterize spouses who have affairs. They do not have the courage to deal with the problems they are having in their marriage or honour their vows. Also, they need another person to tell them they are desirable to make them feel good about themselves. Any other suggestions?

Yep that pretty much sums it up. All the reasons other people have mentoned. . .like a sexual addiction. . .curiosity. . . adventure. They are afraid to admit those things to their spouses, so they go out and cheat. It all comes back to being a coward and weak.

Well said, I totally agree!!! Whatever happened to trust, communication, love, understanding in a relationship? If there are problems, a couple needs to be able to work them out together. Not through the "therapy" of another persons bed!!!

...and don't forget how trust is lost with an affair. I agree they don't have the courage to face up to problems in the marriage, and having an affair is not a way to fix things...actually the problems grow in magnitude.

Spouses having affairs have one thing in common , they yield themselves to temptations. If you don't want to be tempted, don't put yourself in a place where you know very well that you will be tempted.
Tips to avoid temptation.
AVOID IT
RUN AWAY FROM IT
NEVER GIVE IT A CHANCE TO COME NEAR YOU

I've known people that had affairs who were very happy in their marriage. Some people have affairs because of a sexual addiction.

No, it is not cowardly and weak.
It's just human (man) nature.. Even in our psychology class we are told that men are polygamous in nature.. That was how they were made.. Their psyche was made that way.

It also seem to be an ego boaster,, not because they really wanted to cheat, but just to boast their self steem though wrong as it may seem.

It also strengthen his morale and self worth.
But this is not to justify any cheating though
