Just another means to communicate? No, it's unique in that it can be used for direct interactive communication (webcams, IM), as a sort of immense library (you can find information about almost everything on the internet) and for sending "letters", even with photographs (e-mail). There are ways to use it for playing & recording music, watching TV, playing games, etc. I definitely view it as something more than just another means to communicate.

It is one of the worst forms of communication there is. Misunderstanding abounds in all forms. Some people view is as an emotional pacifier of sorts. Their self worth is based on the number of emails in their in box, not caring that the sender could be totally misrepresting themselves, they will take it as "a warm and fuzzy" credit to their emotional bank account.
Furthermore, it can be a huge stumbling block to all the real communication that could be going with that REAL PERSON sitting out on the couch while we waste away in front of this box waiting for fake validation.

No it is not. It can be used as a means to communicate, but it is also used for many different purposes like research and development and entertainment. The computer itself is just a "dumb" machine and is just a tool mostly used as an extension of your mind.
