I am on my 2nd cycle of ortho tricyclen (well the start of my 2nd cycle of it) and I am experiencing alot of the symptoms I did when I first got pregnant with my children. Sore boobs, adversion to smells, tiredness, crankiness, and just plain "Blah" feeling. I am not too familiar with the pill as it was not my method of birth control before. I am only on it now to control ovian cysts and of course prevent pregnancy. Does it sound like I could be pregnant?

Well my first question is, how long were you taking the pill before you had unprotected sex. With birth control pills you have to give it 7-10 days i believe before it is actually effective. . . I wouldnt go as far as saying that you might be pregnant, however if you didnt give the medication enough time, it is a possibility. . .

My second thought is that the estrogen level is too high, because you are experiencing side effects of the medication. I would suggest that you contact your gyn and have another pill prescribed to you, obviously something with a lower estrogen level, othro tricyclen low perhaps might do the trick. Good luck

U know, if you've experienced pregnancy before and u KNOW what it feels like, then it sounds like that u could be pregnant. I have a friend who was already pregnant when she got on the pill. Im not sure why the doctors didnt even give her a damn test before they prescribed her the pills!

ooooh yeah. i know what you mean. it took me 3 months to get rid of those feelings. the first month was MURDER!!! the cramps were so brutal, it felt like i was giving birth! YIKES! then the 2ND month I felt sore, nauseous, loss of appetite, and my boobs hurt so so much i felt like they were going to explode. i know this all sounds so exaggerated, but it's true. thankfully, now I'm on my 5th month and I'm not feeling any side effects anymore. Just give it some time and you will get used to the hormone level jumps. the first 3 weeks of the pack has elevated levels of hormones to trick your body into thinking you are pregnant and the last week are the placebo with low low, hell maybe even zero levels of the hormone. I have poly cystic ovaries & my hormones were so out of wack it was unreal. I assume thats why i felt like i was being slowly killed the first month. haha.

better safe than sorry.......I ovulated plenty on birth control pills. They do in fact mimic the hormones of pregnancy. They may be too strong, or they may have been too weak. Either way, they are not supposed to make you uncomfortable so I would suggest a pregnancy test a call placed to your doctor to go over the symptoms.

You are having side effects of the pill. If your body doesn't get used to it in another month or so, go back to your doctor and ask to be put on one that is not as strong.

YES! the whole point of birth control is to trick your body into thinking that it is, so that you cant get pregnant.....Just give it a while to get used to and the symptoms should go away
