If I had to pick just ONE thing, it would be ALWAYS USE AN EYELASH CURLER before mascara as well as after you apply it. Curling your lashes opens the eyes! Also, to make them look larger, use light colored eyeshadows on lids, especially ones with a shimmer will definitely do the trick. Make sure and use a highlighting shade (like off white, pale beige) just below the brow and under the arch of the brow. I would recommend that have a light shimmer or frost to it, as well. Use lighter shades in eye-makeup - more neutral colours, because shades which are very dark and clash too much with your complexion may make eyes look smaller.

Brush a light shade over your upper lids, and follow with a darker, complimentary shade in the crease (fold) of the upper lid. You may also want to put darker shadow a little on the outer corner of your upper lid.

Line your eyes, again with a soft colour like brown, but only on the outer rim of upper and lower lids, not the inner rim. DO NOT line your eyes all the way around, just the upper lid should work. You may also want to extend the eyeliner slightly in a tapered manner just outside the outer corner of your eye (this makes your eye look longer).

Blend the eyeliner gently with a cotton swab (Q tip) to prevent looking harsh.

You can also use a fat, creamy liner pencil for a softer and less severe line.

You could add a creamy highlight just below your brow bone, to bring out your eyes. (Make sure brows are really neat - no stray hairs!)

Curl your eye lashes. The curler looks like an instrument of torture, but it isn't! Your eyes will look bigger when your lashes are curled.

Put on mascara, to emphasise your lashes. You could start with brown, and use black if you think the brown doesn't emphasise enough. NOTE: Always curl lashes BEFORE you put on mascara, otherwise your lashes could break!!

Last, but not least, EXPERIMENT!! What looks good on one person may not work for you. Practice suggestions in private at home before you wear it in public. Play with different colours and styles until you find the 'look' that you're comfortable with. Don't ever stop trying new things! Some may work for you, and others may not, but you never know til you try it!

Try the babydoll look with opaque white liner on your lower lid. Works like a charm and makes your eyes look really big and doll-like (wear with very black mascara on top lashes.)

um... dont overdo eye makeup. i curl my lashes and use a good mascara that lengthens. eyeliner on the bottom's always good too
