We live in a 3 bedroom HDB appartment on the 7th floor. We are very conscious of cleaniness in our house but somehow can't seem to eliminate (once and for all) ants! Does anyone hawve any ideas of products used before which really eliminate ants permanently? Don't want to try a product for the ants to move away temporarily - am after a solution which can permanently eradicate the ants in our house. Many thanks for all your help.

If you're talking about the little sugar ants, you are in for a fight. They are tenacious as hell and you need a 3-pronged attack.

1. Keep the place as clean as you can. Remember they are looking for food and water, so they will gravitate to kitchen and bathroom, but they'll go anywhere. They covered my computer desk once because I left a few crumbs behind. If my cat spat up, they were attracted to that, too.

2. Use ant baits with borax. There are several of these, I use one called Grants Kills Ants. Have also used Terro with mixed results. I've been told the nests can hold up to 50 queens, and you want to kill them all. The slow-poison baits will do this, but it takes time.

3. Follow the little #@%$!&s and try to spray the points of entry. I couldn't stand them in my kitchen any more, even though Grants was slowing them down. It would've killed them if I had hung on a few more weeks. I used ant spray. THEY used another entrance, and another. Five entry points! Then the day came when I didn't see any ants. Hallelejuh!

If there is food or sweet things, ants will find their way there. The only way is keep the house clean, any food dropped on the floor or kitchen will attract ants, even a few drops of water left on the basin. Your kitchen have to be remain dry all the time. The next times those ants who visit your house and cannot find anything to eat, they will stop coming back. Good luck.

Try going to NTUC or any supermarket to buy ant killing "food" - it's like gain of brown sand. Put them along the sides of your wall. It helps. the ants are gone after two weeks.

or you have to search the entire house for their "nest" or any dead lizards/cockroaches that the ants may be feeding on.

Buy ant traps that contain a chemical that the ants bring back to the nest to kill them all.
