My parents are dead and I'm already distanced from my brothers. I was considering just moving to another state and starting an new life and throwing my past away. But, I hate to walk away from all my friends. I'm not sure how they'd take it, but I feel the need to find a life partner. I'm 47 and time's running out. Up to this point, I've acted very straight and doubt many people would suspect my real orientation. Are there any support groups for this?

Go to gaymoz.org I just googled it for you and it says they have gay support groups. I hope this helps!

A few of my friends came out of the closet when I was in high school, but it's the new millenium and things are different then the old days in the past where as a Literary teacher told my class once: "If you were in the closet, that door was shut locked, and boarded up. You weren't ever coming out!" It's a lot harder when you're older, and I'm sorry I don't have more advice, but I just want you to know that I support you!

Dave,

Either way (moving or staying) your life is in for a major change....The one thing you gotta remember thought it all is what will make me happy....what will put me at peace with my self.

The moving thing works ...but doesn't really address the issues ... it's like the net ...any one can play a part or be anything they choose.....So move and get a new piece of paper to draw on ......for some folks that works ...but some day you gotta come back to your roots. Address your friends ... if they are true friends that will stick with ya ...if not ...well your rid of the "pretenders" ..... if it really sucks you can always move later ... but to make a change now.....where you are right now will be important to your self esteem. If you don't it will be like your still hiding from those people you used to call friends for ever.

Big steps require big people, strong will and a plan.

Think it through, be careful and thoughtful.

Good Luck

your statement that time is running out is your problem, what ever made you write that you have to figure out. if you are in a life that is over half gone and you are okay why try making a fool out of your self in ways you haven't yet been dumb enough to do. i not got a gay thing, but you do see i don't like to even think about the way that life could change if i run out and make my self punished for something you may not understand there are no one out there in love with gay rights, only people with children and who see the church as sodomized world that you belong to the world doesn't see you as a lovely person looking like "Tiny" Tim, singing and tip toeing thought the tulips. it has its dark side and you ought to leave it in the closet, besides your lover is going to want you exclusively

You should start dating and be public about it. There's no shame in being homosexual and if the people around you don't like it then it's their problem not yours. Don't worry too much about what they'll think cause as you've said time's running out and if they're good friends they'll accept you the way you are.
Wish you the best!

Send invitations to a huge party to all your hetrosexual friends..... at the height of excitement, literally come out of the closet wearing a too-too and a little pink bra set. Proposition the biggest, meanest looking one there. Kiss him directly on the lips and then run like hell!

I'm sure you can find a support group. If these people are really your friends, you should be able to tell them.

It doesn't matter because God almighty will smote you and dmn you to a burning lake of fire for all eternity where you will writhe and scream in agony for ever and ever.... but just remember, He does it only because He loves you.

"For sayeth unto thee The Lord God Almighty; thou shalt hast no non-heterosexual booty in my sight, lest you die"
