"Intra Uterine Device" is a birth control device that is inserted into the uterus. I've heard from a friend that there is an IUD that will stop your period. Does anyone know if there is such a device?

I got a Mirena IUD about three years ago, and haven't had a period for about 2 and half months. I love mine! No pills, no worries for five years. Here's the catch: you have to have already had a baby - it makes them easier to put in. Also, STD's are alot more dangerous, so you have to be in a monogamous relationship to lower your risk. Also, some doctors wont put them in, because it stops eggs from implanting in your uterus, therefore it is possible for an egg to be fertilized and then get eliminated. Some pro-lifers don't like that. Still, I love mine - talk to your doctor.

I have the mirena iud, and I very rarely have a period. when I do, it's incredibly light and hardly worth mentioning at all.

I don't have children, and I was able to persuade my doctor to put one in. It took a lot of talking though. And it most certainly does hurt if you've never had children. But only during the initial insertion. Then it's crampy for a day or two, and then it's wonderful. No thinking, no worries. I love it..

Ive had Mirena 3 years and I havent had a period since it was inserted, (I breastfed the 1st 18 months). But I did spot for 3 months esp after sex but thats very normal with the Paraguard (non-hormonal iud) your flow will increase and so will the cramps but after a while your period will deminish as well

I don't know, but nowadays, most doctors will say that you can take the pill without the "sugar pill" break safely with no harm to future fertility. My doctor recommended same as I suffered from Dysmenorryhia (sic) (crazy a** cramps) and it has worked like a charm. Though I has to change my dose to a lower one, as I lost interest in food and got mildly depressed.
