yeah, maybe a dumb question... no, it IS a dumb question. but i find myself changing the way i write it each time. so which is it?

"Goodnight" is what you tell someone when they go to bed. "Good night" describes a good evening out with friends. It's also spoken slightly differently depending on the use.

The correct presentation is good night. Goodnight is not in the dictionary.

It's 'goodnight' in UK spelling. Possibly not in US spelling; I'm not sure.
