It all depends. As you already must know, getting pregnant is very hard to do without having sex. of the penis-vagina type.

If you're using multiple partners (I'd rather not know...) sex as frequently as your men can provide it will be the most reliable method.

If you only have one partner (This is the more common practice, and the type I reccomend) Sex as often as the two of you feel like it is the best process . If you've been having TROUBLE getting pregnant, varying the routine may be necessary.

Men's sperm production varies according to diet, and time of day. Zinc, and orange juice are believe to be helpful in producing more sperm. Time of day is a hit-or-miss question, and without extensive testing, the time your man is most interested in sex is usually close to the right time. The male body can store sperm for up to two weeks, so if your man has a low sperm count, has been kicked in the balls a lot, or frequently rides over railroad tracks while sitting down on his bike, sex every two weeks allows him to get a "full load." For most men, even a VERY low sperm count is not the major problem, since it only takes one in the first place, but if you've been trying every day with no success, cutting back in frequency a little could help.

The female body of course is more or less receptive to impregnation depending on the time of the month, diet, and time of the day. Since the female body has a nearly monthly cycle, but the eggs appear to pop out somewhat at random during that cycle, sex twice a month allows you to have two "chances" with each menstrual cycle. That's not a lot, but if you're man has only half a testicle, that may be the best.

Sex during different times of the day may also help, as your body's temperature fluctuations have a lot to do with when an egg is released, and when it is most likely to be where it can most easily get fertilized.

Arousal has a lot to do with both sperm count, and receptivity, so the two of you might try a little more flirting, and conversing and such, even when you're not able to get the sex thing going on... and will also help to ensure that the routine gets varied a little.

Alternately, you could plan the whole thing out like a missile launch in tense tactical sessions followed by the transmission of a single code word or phrase before the actual action on a regularly planned schedule that is accurate down to the milisecond, followed by a pre-planned follow up trip to the pregnancy test with the precision of a Military Fire Drill... But I think flirting and being spontaneous will really help out more.

OK, having sex every other week is like cutting your hair on full moons to make it grow longer - it's silly.
Having sex every other hour would be more likely to produce a new family member - plus its more fun! (untill you get sore...)
Keep in mind that hormones are partly responsible for pregnancy, so dont do it as a chore with set times and stuff. Try to be spontaneous if you can, because anxiety is bad for you, your chances, and your relationship too.
There are positions that are supposed to help women concieve, (on your back with legs pointing up in the air I think; like a fetal position - no pun intended!)
Also all drugs, legal and illegal, all have a bad effect on mens sperm count. So does wearing underwear, because "balls" are supposed to hang down to keep cooler than the rest of the body.
Consider that a hot tub or even a hot shower can reduce a mans active sperm count to almost zero for hours!
Look at it like this - you've decided to have a baby, but that dont mean it's your job. Relax, enjoy yourself, have fun trying, 'cause it'll be the last fun you have for about a year once you DO have a baby - they are a LOT of work! But worth it.

Michelle, to get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

How about sex every day - twice a day, but everyday. I think that will increase the odds more than every other week. And don't think of sex as "trying to get pregnant". Think of it as pure animal attraction and enjoy it! It will happen!

Every other week is not often enough for 'planned pregnancy intercourse'. Your friend PROBABLY meant every other day, which is the rule. Sperm live on average up to 72 hours only, so given that fact you can see how easy it would be to miss ovulation with only having sex every other week.
Best of luck!

There are only around 6 days a month that are your fertile times, 4 days before you ovulate, the day you ovulate and the day afterwards. I would try on those days. Ovulation usually occurs 14 days before the start of your next period. Dont have sex the day before you start trying so that your hubby's sperm count remains high. Good luck.

There are many ways to get pregnant. I think the reason that some people say that it is good every other week is so that the male can have a biger load of semen thus a better chance of getting you Pregnant?

that is just my opinion. I hope my answer did not offend any one here.......

having sex helps a lot. you could even try it more often than every other week if it doesn't tire you out to much.
A medical text I read once stated that the odds of getting pregnant increased by over 50% if the couple had orgasm within five minutes of each other and actually doubled if they were simultaneous

Try the following:

Knitting
Cross stitching
Crocheting
Sew a new set of drapes for your dining room
weave a Persian carpet
write a 90,000 page book
cycle 50,000 miles

When all else fails, try your middle finger on the right hand.
