L.A. is in the Pacific Time Zone (PDT in spring & summer, PST in autumn & winter.) The abbreviations stand for Pacific Daylight Saving Time & Pacific Standard Time, respectively. New York, like my hometown (Louisville, KY) is in the Eastern Time Zone. The continental U.S. is divided into four Time Zones (From East to West): Eastern, Central, Mountain & Pacific. As you travel from east to west & change Time Zones, you will lose one hour for each Time Zone you cross.

L.A. to N.Y. is a three hour difference. 7am PT = 10am ET
