They're keeping me awake!

Exhale as hard and fast as you can, then immediately take as deep a breath as you can and hold it.

Repeat.

The idea is to do this in opposition to the rhythm of the hiccups -- or a-rhythmically with respect to them. It may take a few of these to work, but it usually works for me (unless they are just stopping on their own).

Your diaphragm is spassing in a rhythm and you want to break that rhythm up.

Each time you hold your breath, try to hold it past the time of the next expected hiccup. If you hiccup during a hold, wait a second, then do the exhale and inhale and hold again.

Hope this was clear.

ask someone to shock you, i.e. when you are not expeting it they may (not say boo) but you know what I am getting at. Also, can stop them by not breathing for as long as poss. it is awful, but works. Also try sipping water from the wrong side of the glass, i.e. not how it is normally drank, tip the glass away, and gulp bits ffom the tilted side, all this is basically to take your mind off the hiccups. anything to take your mind off them will do. They just take over, and nothing overrides them that is why the breathing, the shock the water tilt, all are obscure unnatuaral things to concentrate on, there fore the hiccups will disappear. Hope.

I usually just have as many hiccups as I can & then I drink water. It works every single time. I get the hiccups every time I finish eating something/anything

Have someone dangle a cold key down your back,
have someone pour ice cubes down your back,
have someone scare the life out of you,
failing that hold your breath for 20 seconds.
