Put her through the guilt trip and talk about how much you miss the book and how much it meant to you. And mention how if you ever found the person who stole your book say you would forgive them right away and go easy on them. Give her a chance to pretend to have found your book in the lost and found. Don't let her know that you know untill after you get it back.

You cannot make her tell you the truth, but you can move on without her as a friend. Or if the friendship is worth saving have a book store order the next copy for you and let it go about her. Just keep her as the friend and get a new book

I think you should steal it back. Drop the subject and let her forget about it and when she's not expecting it, steal the book back. You know it's yours and that she took it - bottom line, she's not a good friend if she takes from you. Therefore, stealing it back is perfectly ethical. Especially given how much it means to you. It doesn't matter if she admits to stealing it - the important thing is that you get it back, because in my opinion the book is more valuable to you than she is given her behavior.

You can use this but this is illegal
Scopolamine or Hyoscine, formula C17H21 NO4, which occurs in the roots of certain herbs belonging to the nightshade family. A viscous liquid, it dissolves fairly readily in water. The monohydrate of the alkaloid forms crystals of melting point 59° C (138° F). Scopolamine is optically active and levorotary—that is, it rotates the plane of polarized light to the left. Scopolamine is used medically to dilate the eye; to depress the central nervous system, which effect makes it valuable as a sedative and preanesthetic; and to prevent motion sickness.
Scopolamine's effect on the central nervous system also makes it useful as a “truth serum,” by means of which uncooperative persons may be forced to answer questions. This method of interrogation is common in popular fiction, but cannot be used legally in the United States without consent, and because evidence so obtained is unreliable, it is often inadmissible in court.

Well if she was sneaky and took it then be sneaky and steal it back. I mean her story sounds so fake. And if she's as fake as she sounds she's not worth your time.
DROP HER
Same thing happened to me. I thought my friend stole a necklace from me. Then I gave her a second chance. Again I found yet another thing missing. I threatened to tell my other friends. She broke and confessed.

first of are you sure thats your friend/ if that was a true friend they would respect your choice of saying no they can't borrow the book. not only that instead of apologizing they are lying to you. friends don't lie to each other or steal from each other. speak to an adult that is responsible for her or tell her you want to speak to her aunt about the book since her aunt gave it to her.( so she says)

NOTHING to worry, you deal with your friend in the same manner
what i mean to say is that . when you have asked her honestly she didnot reply .so you try to be normal with her and go on after few days you can get your book back to you.

You can't make her confess. Pretend everything is okay - take your book back - and don't worry about your friendship. She doesn't sound like a true friend anyway.

file a police report. They may not do anything about it, but they may also take the time to contact the supposed aunt. And don't worry about messing up your friendship, she isn't anyone you want around.
