It depends on the person, although it is easy to get caught in the mind set of only caring about the bottom line. Of course, people are in business to make a profit and there is nothing wrong with that. The reality is that some people do only care about the profit and fail to see the harm that can be caused when profit becomes more important than people. Sometimes people can be so absorbed in their self interests that they fail to see that they are putting profit before people. Of course, there are plenty of business people that balance the interests of themselves, there company, and customers. I believe that is what we should all strive for. There is plenty to go around. Be good to each other.

I don't fully understand. do they just care about that in their business? or do they just care about that in life?
I know I work for 3 home builders, and they care and they care alot! They are the kind of people that would pull over and help you on the side of the road. They all have very big hearts, I think that has some thing to do with where they are at today. That is they have plenty of money and friends and are loved by many.
I am a business person and I would like to think I care about more than just making profits. If you think about it I bet you know more than a handful of "business persons" yourself.
Check out a opportunity you can have to be a business person to. http://www.payitforward4profits.com/Joel_rhds

no. There are many business people who care about their communities, the people who work for them, the environment, and more. But if they do not make a profit, they will not be able to do anything about these issues. You can't pay your staff if you go out of business because you are not making money.
The better question is do big corporations care more about short term gain than long term good.

depends what businesspersons you are talking about.
from my business class, i learned that it is economical to make a profit becuase og the "trickle down" effect (which may or may not exist, again depending who you are)
there are businesspeople who have a main goal of helping the enviroment, such as my dad's solar business, however they need to make a profit to employ all of the people to work on all of the contracting jobs...etc.
another one would be the company i work for, whos main goal is helping animals, but again they need donations to keep people like me employed...so ya know...whatever. depends who you talk to.

I would hope that they care about more. But there is no sense being in business, if you can't make a profit.

absolutely. Look at the state of affairs in this place! In India you have people working tons of U.S. jobs and right across the street they live in hovels. U.S. people can't get jobs because they are being given to illegal immigrants or sent over seas to poor people stuggling to survive who will work for like 12 cents an hour.

Yes, at first. I'm sure they may have a passion for what they do. But I think their drive, or desire may be making a profit. That's just my opinion.

Not all of them. Some are in business because they enjoy the challenge and sense of achievement. They also create jobs.
I have also worked for businessmen who are as you say, but they were in the minority in my experience.
If your were asking about corporations, I might answer differently. They are definitely greedy.

No. Businessmen and corporations also want to do good. They want to do good as long as they can also meet the number one priority of providing a return to the shareholders.
