Strangely enough, in our time not a lot changes
within generations. The generation gap occurs because kids can't get their own way.
If they want to do something that is obviously wrong,
they will call their parents old fashioned rather than accepting their parents morals and beliefs which is in their child's best interests.
The kids of today have free reign, there is no discipline.
They are exposed to more dangers than the previous generation in regards to party drugs for example, which creates a generation gap because family values are not adhered to and kids don't respect what their parents have to say.
It is sad because parents always have their children's best interests at heart.

Yes. It's usually between 10 and 60 years depending on what age parents have their children.

My primary school teacher once told me that a generation gap occurs every two to three years. I don't know how much of that is true, but I do know my younger sis and I don't always click nor talk on the same wavelength.

THere will always be because even though we share some of the same major events during our lifetimes they mean different things to people of different ages. Also popular culture varies so much from decade to decade that it's hard for parents to identify with the role models that young people have.

yes there is. Until the day that you realize that you are now the parent that you did not want to become! you are just like your dad! (or mom) Your child is the person you were at that age. Once again you see that you are not as smart as you thought you were. Then suddenly you become smarter than you thought you were because your child is now as old as you once were. Confused yet?
