Arnold aka the "Governator" of California pulled it off rather nicely. I'm sure most if not all Celebs are "eloquent." Eloquence doesn't exactly run this country. We need people that can put those nice words and rhetoric into full blown action. Any thoughts?

Celebs as political figures can be allowed only if they are qualified to administer the government and served the people diligently.

Isn't funny that they seem to be all Republicans? I guess their money is really important to them. Ronald Reagan ruined much of California, Arnold has not done much better, Sonny Bono I don't know his record but it might be along the same lines. Celebrities are highly visible and well-liked, when their political views are hidden. If you see in California right now, Arnold is not that respected anymore. People are even saying they regret voting for him. It's sadder when people vote according to their movies and not the information provided.

Yes and No. Ronald Reagan was a retired actor who arguably was a lot better than who we have in office now. However, the day after Arnold announced his candidacy on Letterman (and stated he would get back to us with his platform on issues later) he jumped right into first place and people waved signs that read "Arnold the Terminator". A lot of people just don't seem to realize that these are ROLES that actors are playing....not real life.

It is rare when a celebrity can pull it off in the political arena like ol' Arnold did, or Jesse Ventura and Ronald Reagan for that matter.
It is my opinion that most celebs talk trash (not all but most), so I think they should just shut up and stick to doing their jobs...entertaining.

I do not currently live in California, but I haven't heard the greatist things about Arnold. And Ronald Regan was a movie star before he got into politics, and I wouldn't chalk him up as one of the best presidents. I think it is more important to have someone in charge who knows what they are doing, not that is a good mascot.

Choosing the most qualified candidate as a political figure is the most important thing. Just look at Ronald Reagan. He was a Movie Star, but then he became one of our greatest Presidents of this century.

Don't forget Ronald Reagan, George Murphy, Ben "Cooter" Jones, or Fred Grandy.

I agree that nice words don't fix our problems but they do motivate people. A good politician has to be a combination of statesman and orator to carry it off and get things done.

Ronald Reagan did it for two terms.
I don't vote for people with those job skills.
