What is the difference between assault and agrivated assault?

Is one random and the other caused by agrivating or being in conflict with someone the person knows?

Simple assault is done with the body -- ie: Hitting, kicking, biting. Aggravated Assault adds a WEAPON (potentially lethal) into the mix -- ie: You are using a knife, gun, whatever to assault the other person.

Assault is when a credible threat is made, verbally or with a gesture. Aggravated assault is when that credible threat involves the weilding of a weapon.
