Herein lies a very good question. I have pondered it myself, but have been too lazy to research the answers. I do find, however that it is not just limited to 7-11, but to quick convenience stores in general. I am thinking it is a networking thing. It worked well for some immigrants and they have kept the chain going by continuing to hire and bring over friends and family through this avenue, which is obviously fairly lucrative, must be easy to obtain a license for, easy to finance by foreigners, etc. I also find that the stores are very neat, clean and organized, although customer service and developing personal relationships, IMHO is a bit low on the ratings scale, not allot of friendliness or getting to know you kinda stuff. Also I sometimes find the language barrier to be a bit frustrating, as my only language is English. That's my two cents.

They are of that culture because they have invested money in wanting to run the gas stations in many of our cities and make a living. Perhaps because they have a lack of American education they can't obtain a degreed job as white collar workers can.
