My girlfriend and I are having this argument.
I say that people choose to be gay because that is there sexually preference,that what they want,and the way they choose to be.
My girlfriend says that gay people are born that way,and really don't have a choice in the matter.
Who would you say was correct.

i would say that you are correct. i firmly believe that gay people choose to be that way. as for people saying that they know that they were gay when they were 6 yrs old, well, bullcrap... at that age, children are still considered innocent in the eyes of God and he would NOT make a person who cannot yet be held accountable for their sins GAY!!! doesn't that make sense????

I would say your girlfriend is right, and this is coming from a woman that has known since I was very young that I was attracted to women. I never lived that way, due to what other people might think, and I had never met someone that I was attracted to. Long story short I dated boys then men...I always knew that it did not make me happy, but hey. I got married had a daughter and five years later I knew this was not me.
You are straight, but if someone told you that the correct way to live would be to sleep with another man...would you? No because you are not attracted to men in any way or fashion. I feel the same way. I have No attraction to men. I can look at a man and say "oh he is a good looking man" or "damn he is fine" but I don't want to sleep with him, Nothing in me wants a man. So to answer your question, it is not a choice as to who you are. It is a choice to say I want to be me and not do what everyone else wants. So kiss your girl and just say "sweetheart, as usual you were right. :)

I was born gay!!! I knew it from day one! I think gay people are born gay, it just takes some of us longer to realise it or deal with it. I don't have a choice in the matter!!! Look at it this way, think of a food you just cannot eat at all! just thinking about putting it in your mouth makes you feel ill!!! Do you have a choice in that? NO! Yeah you could eat it & feel sick, but why would you???? Not saying that girls make me sick, god love ya, you guys can be our best friends & saving graces at times, but that is how it is! Did you have a choice to be female? Did you have a choice to be the skin colour you are? Did you have a choice to have straight or curly hair? NO NO NO!!! (and don't mention curling or straightening irons!!!! they don't count)

Your girlfriend is correct. Modern Scientific studies suggest that genetics are involved and that many gays are born gay. Other studies suggest that environmental factors (no father around, a very overbearing mother, etc.) have effects too. Either way people do NOT choose to be gay!

I used to have a boyfriend that we were more like friends than dating, some years after we broke up he told me he was gay. Which to me explained a lot about the way he acted when we were dating. He said that he was born that way and he was trying not to be when we were dating. Most religions that I know of preach against gays, and he was raised very religious and he said it always bothered him to be that way.

people are not given a choice . are u straight and did yu choose to be? gay peoples identity has always been oh they were raped or didnt have a mother or father figure. when you first had a hard on for a girl that gave you your first glimpse into who you would be. you no what same thing for gay people dude.

I don't believe that there is a gay or straight. Everyone is, in some degree, attracted to both sexes. Even the straightest person and also even the gayest person.
