No it sure isn't. I'm black and was raised in a two-parent home, it was hell. My mom and dad hated each other and fought all the time. It was really a horrible experience, although I still love my parents, I wish they just would've separated. So no, single parenthood isn't the root of all evil in the black community. In my opinion this is what is wrong with some black communities in my area:
1. Parent's don't raise their kids in a stable, loving environment.
2. Parent's don't talk to their kids about life and sex (African Americans have some of the highest pregnancy and STD rates in my area)
3. The culture promoted by African Americans for African American youth is poor, listen to any song on the radio/watch the videos (we are feeding this garbage to our own people!)
4. Some older African Americans have this "slavery mentality" that they brush off unto the younger generations suggesting that white people are keeping them down. (When in fact us Blacks have more opportunity than every to make good for ourselves!)
Those are just a few of my thoughts about that subject!

No. I live in the black community and actually see nothing wrong. Same things happens here, that happens all over the US in every community. It's just not displayed the same way. Perception plays a huge role.
Example:
Large 18 year old, very dark black man with braids and leather jacket on the News, just been accused of murdering a little white girl 5 years old.
Now imagine
Large 18 year old blonde white boy with baseball cap and letter jacket on the News, just been accused of murdering a little white girl 5 years old.
Now first thing that comes to mind...fast...What do you think?
By the way...Most households are single PARENT homes in all communities. People just don't accept it. Most households in the US only have one parent. Some may have a bystander who gave DNA who may live in the home, but basically plays with the kid while the other parent does the nurturing, teaching, and acts of daily living. You can look at the average household in America and will find one parent doing all the work. The other parent may work and pay bills or something, but usually only ONE takes the brunt of the responsibility. Not necessarily the woman either. Even in homes with the woman as the wage earner the male will be the major person taking responsibility for the kids. Think about it.

There are plenty of single parent homes in all types of "communities" that do just fine.
The problems in all "communities" have nothing to do with the dynamics of the home (single, married, gay) The things to question
~Are basic needs being met?
~Is there consistancy in love and disipline?
~Is there a strong support system?
...and so many more...
But you get my point.

As a Whitie, there is nothing wrong with the "Black" community. We are all one and we need to come together. We are all one people, no matter what the skin color. MLK Jr. gave his life to promote this and we all need to do our best to live this dream!
We need to accept each other, Black, White, Yellow, Red and all others as Human-Kind!
Peace and God Bless,

Nope, I think it may be a factor in EVERY community, but not the root of all the problems.
