The first thing I suggest to any aspiring writer is to read as much as possible. Start by reading books in a similar genre to what you want to write-- this will help you get an idea of how these books work and what has already been done. Reading will also help you improve your spelling and vocabulary.

I also have an addiction to books on writing. There are three which I constantly recommend. They are:

1) "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg-- This book is about the practice of writing. Just as you would work out every day if you were an athelete, you should be writing every day (or as often as possible) if you are a writer. The more you practice, the better you get!

2) "Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life" by Anne Lamott-- This focuses on the step by step process and helps to prevent you from getting overwhelmed. It's incredibly motivational, and really applies to most aspects of life.

3) "On Writing Well" by William Zinsser-- This is a technical book that focuses on grammer and making your prose shine. It will not only help in your book, but can improve your grades as well!

When you sit down to write your book, don't worry about making it perfect the first time. Every author has to edit their work. The most important thing is to get the story down on paper! If you get stuck, you can work on a different section-- you don't have to start at the beginning. Many writers actually like to start at the end and work their way back.

Some people write from an outline and others just like to jump in and see where their stories take them. There is no right or wrong way, just what works best for you!

Good luck and happy writing!

On writing what kind of book. What genre do you want it to be? Is it gonna be from something in your life? is it just a "to-do" book? You need tobe a little more specific. Because I cant help you unless I know what you want to write about.
