Other ranges are higher, but for variety I choose the Adirondacks. They have around 90 acres of Arctic Alpine terrain. This area has the same plant life as the Tundra. There are many lakes and ponds, some great white water, and a lot of history. As a footnote the souce of the Nile was discovered before the source of the Hudson. Teddy Roosevelt was climbing Mt. Marcy, the highest point in NY, when McKinley was shot in Buffalo. T.R. rode through the night to the nearest train station to catch a train to Buffalo. There are ghost towns from the iron mining days. And a lot of the old wagon roads are now hiking trails. Oh yeah, we also have small populations of the Eastern Mountain Rattlesnake. I guess that is about it, but it is plenty for me. Check out my 360 for some pictures.

The Appalachians; nothing more beautiful. Beautiful after a snow fall, beautiful in the spring, beautiful when the leaves change in the fall...beautiful all year round. It's why John Denver wrote/sung: Almost heaven, West Virginia Blue ridge mountains Shenandoah river. Of course the Rockies are beautiful too.

That's a hard one, but I guess I'd have to say Kentucky or Tennessee....the great Smokey mountains! But then again, those are the only mountains I have seen in America....I went to the top of mount Pilatus in Switzerland and it was wonderful also.

There are beautiful mountains all over this country. The Smokies, the Rockies, The Tetons, The Arbuckles, etc. They all seem to have their own special details and colors. I would love to see them all. Colorado and Washington are beautiful,
but then so is Kentucky and Wyoming.
