Tarnation is a word that has come from several sources. Its origins are: tarnal, which comes from eternal, and damnation. Both of which were curse words in earlier times, thus the creation of the euphamisms to curse without cursing. (i.e. jeepers creepers is a euphamism for Jesus Christ)
