Speaking as a full-time homemaker I can safely say anywhere from 6 to 8 hours a day. I have 2 children, 4 horses, a 3400 sq. ft. home w/ 4 bedrooms and 2 baths on 15 acres and 1 slightly, but improving, messy husband. The work is literally, neverending! I get up in the morning and work maybe 2 hours before sitting down to some breakfast. The work just continues from there. If there isn't housework to be done, there's grocery shopping, barn cleaning, mowing, weeding, snow shoveling, gardening, canning...The list goes on and on.
I know some men feel that their stay at home wife does very little, but trust me...She does so much more than you can see. My husband has followed me around at times and absolutely marvels at how much time it takes to keep up a home. Just because you don't see it being done, doesn't mean it isn't getting done.
By the same token...If it doesn't look as if anything has been done, it probably hasn't been.

Before I quit my job to move to this state I worked 8-9 hours a day...then went home to take care of house and the children. Now that I have been at home and finished my college education I find that I spend at least 9-10 hours a day doing some form of house work...if their is nothing to do I find something. I mow the law, edge, weed, plant, laundry, dishes, paint...etc. There is no end to house work especially if you have children, I am constantly recleaning a room those two tornados have gone through....although I do take a day or two off in the week to catch up on my playing!

Why are you only asking homemakers? Don't working people have to do housework too? Or do we all just live in pig sties and eat take out all the time?

It's much different now that my kids are 11 and 13. They are capable of taking care of their personal cleanliness and contribute to the household, too.

I now can spend more time doing home improvement jobs. I painted the entire exterior of the house this summer, for example.

I spend, on average, 1/2 of my day time either doing actual "housework", running errands (grocery shopping, etc), or working on home improvement jobs. 1/4 of the rest of my time is spent driving my kids places, helping them with homework, or helping them with their household tasks.

Our place has a tendency to be a sprint bit a lodge for a number of our unmarried associates. (ordinarily male!!!) so there are almost allways some form of greater house household initiatives to do , mattress linen to alter, greater towels to bathe, visitor bathing room to bathe and so on.and so on. So i think of approximately 4-5 hours an afternoon. yet a minimum of a million -a million a million/2 hours would be ironing as I in all risk iron greater effective than maximum individuals (sheets, pillow situations, table cloths and so on.) i purely can not positioned something away unironed. Our flooring are a mix of polished wood and tiles so as that they'd desire to be damp mopped each and daily to maintain sparkling. What with dusting, fixtures to shine, dish washing (no dishwasher) , domicile windows to bathe porch and outdoors fixtures to maintain sparkling I shop extraordinarily busy. Oh! did I point out baking, gardening, weeding, washing, cooking.

Hmmmmm.....gathering information to settle an argument?

I work full-time on the weekdays. I can tell you that I spend more hours in a day cleaning on my days off than I spend at work during the week.

I hope that helps you.

Between cooking, cleaning and a couple hundred other projects that always need to be done, I'd say at least 90.
