Ebay can be a waste of time as that most bids don't meet their reserves. Also if you win a bid you must arrange shipping and all that junk.
Typically it's a good idea to test drive a car before you buy. Find a private seller that lives in your area. Autotrader.com is good.
Carmax is also good, however their "no haggle" pricing is a love/hate situation. It makes things much simpler and usually their prices are very reasonable but whatever price is on the sticker is the price you pay bottom line. No bargaining or anything.
I suggest you start your car search at any car dealership (Toyota, Honda, Ford, etc). They will most likely have a generous used car lot, and sometimes these vehicles are certified and will come with warranties. Anyways good luck!
