Tell her that she will skip one social activity for every class she skips. If she does it again, then it's two social activities for every class, and on and on.
This means if she skipped 3 classes, that she may miss (for example):
1) the football game
2) the new movie her friends are going to
3) meeting her girlfriends at the mall the next day
Make sure they are activities that you can actually prevent her from doing. AND that they are ones she finds important.
My kids (11 and 13) have never skipped classes. However, my 11 y.o. son has tried faking sick. I tell him: "It's too bad you're sick, that means your friend won't be able to come over tonight". He came back with "I'll *try* going to school", and everything worked out fine.
Sorry for using "she", but there was no way of knowing otherwise.

Most teachers have an open door policy. What you need to do is to follow your child for a week to each class. Where ever they go you go. It is important that kids know that skipping school is very wrong and against the law. So take a week off of work and follow your teen for a week in school. And tell them that if they ever do it again you Will do it for 2 weeks. Nothing is more embarrassing than being seen with your parents in school.

Ground him/her.
Take away their computer, television, and electronics in general.Teens love electronics, and without them they are bored and it will give them time to think about skipping class again and they will realise it isnt worth it.You adjust the amount of time.
Take them to the teacher of the class they skipped and ask her for extra credit so they can make up for that unexcused absence in that class.
Allow them to only go to school and home for a week(or longer). That includes no times at night with friends or dates.
Give them extra chores to do around the house.
Take away their car privilages(if they have their permit or drivers licence).
Once their punishment is over, have a talk with them about how important education is and how many dont have the chance to go to school and get an education.Good luck.

make her write a 1 page essay on why not to skip class, and have her share it with her class. she MUST inclued why she skipped class, and at least 2 reasons why she shouldnt have.
its creative, embarrassing, and she might even get extra credit for it!(depending on the teacher)
wow... u must be a good parent, most kids dont even get in trouble for that these days.
I also like the idea above... sounds funny!

Take her cell-phone from her , no computer access, no ipod,( no electronic device). You can do this for a week. School is very important in a child's development, when they avoid class for no reason, they not only hurt you as the parent/parents but themselves as well. This should discourage her/him from ever doing that again and he/she will see the importance of not having "technology" for a week .

First insure you communicate with your son/daughter to find out why they are doing this. A change in class schedule or something else may be needed. Find out the reasons for the action first and foremost, time to help your son/daughter with solutions to whatever problem led up to it.

Quite frankly, no one cares. I personally have ever skipped, but everyone cuts the occasional class, it's part of the High School experiance. Just talk to her, ask her what she did,if she didn;t do anything horrendous, leave it.

My 16 year old gets grounded, his cell phone taken and his truck taken away for a week if he gets caught. All three are a really big deal at this age.
