Are homosexuality and transexuality extreme mental disorders?

Question

Many people believe that homosexuality and transexuality are mental disorders and "sinful" acts, as God does not condone them. Some parents are going to the ends saying that it is unethical to even teach or talk about such things in schools.

- Are these things titled as a mental disorder primarily because of the Bible teachings? Homosexuality and the like were a common practice before and after the Bible was assembled together.
- Why would homosexuality and transexuality be considered as such? Do you agree with it? If not, what would you classify it as?


Are they forms of major past life regression? Do these people choose to be these things? Are they born like this? Is it sinful? An outcry for attention? Would therapy and medication make it all better?
What do you think it all means, or does it mean anything?

I'm only curious as to what people think, as where I live it is mostly extreme Southern Bapist who can't even handle thinking about such things. All I get is, "Read the bible"

To all of you who say it was dropped decades ago by Mental Health Experts, perhaps some of you don't remember the whole Pentagon incident earlier this year, where the whole "don't ask, don't tell" policy comes from?

Good question and I could go forever but here it is in a nutshell.

Any time something else or someone else can be blamed for the faults of a society, they will be. Its a whole lot easier than accepting blame and responsibility yourself.

The hate and intolerance that disgraces our country perpetrated by so call 'christian' cultists is excused because it is done in the name of "God". Exactly how is that any different than the nutcases blowing themselves and now thousands of innocent victims (including our service men and women) into smithereens? The terrorists will tell you that they are killing the infidel in the name of "God", and that excuses their horrific behavior.

Any "christian" who hates in the name of God, is no different and deserves the same fate.

Actually the medical terms have changed over the years. I do not agree with what the Bible says. It's who and what I am. As to past lives, I guess anything is possible. I just know I'm very comfortable being a woman. As for therapy let me share this:
I was molested as a child - 9 or 10 - and I thought it was actually the "right" thing for a boy to do with a man. At least that's what he told me. He took pics of me in very graphic situations. Later the courts found out, thru my folks, and he went to prison as a child molester and I became a victim! Two years of talking with a shrink and no change in what was going on with me. I never saw "him" again that's for sure. But boys, friends from school, would ask me to play games with them in the woods "out back" like "damsel in distress" and "kidnapped girl" and "housewife", all the while they were molesting me!! And I let them! Kids!

I don't think it means anything unless you want it to. I decided a long time ago that what I do IS a homosexual thing and I don't care, I just like men. Now I live en-femme 24/7 and I love it!

I still read the "good book" but I also wear boy-cut shorts.

There is not ONE nationally or internationally credible medical organization that supports your view. The American associations of Psychiatry and Psychology dropped the diagnosis of homosexual decades ago. The World Health Organization removed it from their definitions at the same time.

The only pseudo-scientific institutes that claim this are not accredited or recognized except by fringe religious elements.

So no, it's not a disease, therefore there cannot be a cure; QED.

People are born with their sexual orientation, and although brainwashing (sometimes referred to as reparitive therapy) can temporarily cause those subjected to it to follow the outward behaviors of a straight person, the are proven NOT to change the underlying orientation.

Do not rest your questions on junk science.

If your curious as you say why not look it up on the web instead of insulting people. Transsexuals are the only people on the planet that are tested and certified sane.
Gender disphoria is a term used for insurance purposes, The proved facts about Transsexuals is that there brain is of the opposite gender to there sex organs. Now if you were born without legs, would you like people, like you and some other assholes who but there insults in as answers, mocking you and telling you that you'll go to hell if you have a doctor correct that defect.

No. Forty years ago, the American Psychologists Association said it was. A couple of decades later they voted to change that position, saying it is not. No, mental health and disorders are not really established by votes. It shows a reflection of changing atttiudes towards people who have certain behaviors and/or personalities.

MY ADVICE READ UP ON THOSE PERSONALITY DISORDERS EXTENSIVELY AND U WILL UNDERSTAND. EXTENSIVELY. AND LOOK AROUND AT ALL THE PEOPLE THAT SEEM HAPPY BUT WHAT DOES THEIR BEHAVIOR REALLY SHOW.
