Does anyone know if you go out in the cold with Vicks VapoRub applied if it will harm you?

I was told before that if you go out in the cold with it applied anywhere to your chest or throat that it will cause pneumonia...does anyone know if this is true or not?

No, it will not cause phneumonia as long as you keep your throat and chest covered with a scarf and don't stay out too long. I does open the pores somewhat so it isn't something that should be done for a long period of time like going hiking or snowboarding.

penumonia is caused by a germ either bacterial or viral penumonia , vicks has nothing what so ever to do with it, however you will get a very chilly sensation when the vicks and the cold air combine to make the menthol really wake up. however it cant hurt you. just the topical sensation of cold or burning,

No. It is an old tale, my Gram told me that when I was a child. I put Vick's on when I get bronchitis and nothing happens when I go outside.

that is not true however you may not have too many friends while wearing it tends to be rather stinky to others who dont have the cold
