hmm...it really is a strong question. i'm from Louisiana, yet no longer from New Orleans (initially from Lake Charles and at the moment a scholar at LSU). i imagine that, even as it really is an insane volume of money being spent on the Superdome, a lot of human beings in New Orleans necessary some variety of morale booster and this modification right into a thanks to do it. I also imagine that it will furnish lengthy-time period help for brand new Orleans. I merely opt to entice close why no one remembers that Katrina hit more beneficial than southeast Louisiana and why no one remembers that Rita hit southwest Louisiana...

I don't think that the people of New Orleans had a say on the rebuilding of the city. It was so disappointing that they could rebuild the dome and have NO BLACK ENTERTAINERS (with the exception of an African American sister singing the national anthem). I truly believe that politicians have no idea what these people are going through and could care less where the money should be spent. I am not a racist (far from it), but hasn't anyone noticed that our good old Condie rice escaped the hot seat and fled to some foreign nation? or that good ole George hasn't made any attempts to apologize to the American people? Does anyone know that the Canadian task force were one of the first organizations to arrive after Katrina hit?

New Orleans is selling fun and entertainment to tourists. The supedome is a major venue that will help a major portion of the local economy recover. People need jobs to come back to. The Superdome, the Arena, the aquarium the zoo the convention center, hotels and restaurants all are needed for the recovery. It is not your tax dollars that are spent down here but ours. Yours are spent in Iraq. Do not send New Orleans money but do not tax it either. The Feds need to stop looting Louisiana's oil and gas. Do not tax the port either. It is outrageous that Louisiana sends its money to DC only to be forced to beg for it when the biggest catastrophe in the history of this country hits it.

According to the folks on Monday Night Football it was 14 million dollars and it was covered by the insurance policy the owners had on the stadium. The money the team raised was donated to folks in the 9th ward to rebuild their neighborhood.

Because of the fear of having the same event crush them again is the reason why they built their superdome. This infastructure would be able to save all the homeless and helpless if the city were to be wiped out again. No city is built overnight.
