I know this is maybe not a good question to ask on this site because so many people here are idiots/jerks, but I thought I'd give it a shot...

Is it possible for a person to know that they have multiple personality disorder, and be able to control it?

Just wondering, this is a really interesting topic.

I am not so sure about "multiple" personalities ; I'm not sure if you mean a person with multiple personalities or a person with multiple disorders ? Most personality disorders can not be "controlled "on ones own ,because many times they do not admit there is a problem .While you can "control" a bad habit-unless there is a real need to want improvement , many do not even recognize they have symptoms , when it comes to personality disorders . For the most part , I do not believe they know they have symptoms - although they tend to "self-medicate" with booze or drugs , they may not even admit why .

Wow, no wonder people are jumping on board trying to be so helpful to you. You must have to beat people off with sticks because of that award winning personality of yours.

BTW, it's dissociative identity disorder, and it has been for a long time...but maybe your mother personality knows this and is concealing it from you.

Trying to self-diagnose psychologically is about as successful as performing open heart surgery on yourself.

If you suspect you have MPD, seek professional help immediately. I'm not sure a true MPD would really know, other than having memory gaps.

yes. If one has good friends that will talk to you to let you know that you are not you. It has taken me 10 years to learn that I can help my other personalities as well as myself. If I can figure out which one I am
