I'm in a group of about 8 unpopular girls, but I'm not like them. I feel no connection to them. Some of the more socially accepted people want me to join their "group", but I still feel sorry for the *cough* geeks. They look to me and my best friend as leaders because we know what we're doing, I guess. I just don't know if I should keep helping them and make myself suffer, or let them fend for themselves for once in their lives.

Are you for real ???
This question is a ‘joke’ right…
You are just trying to see what you can stir up?

You sound like you are ‘so up yourself’ you wouldn’t be able to be friends with anyone but yourself !
You certainly are not ‘friends’ with those unpopular girls in your group.
As for you ‘not being like them’… You certainly aren’t…
You aren’t good enough !!!

Do the members of the group a big favour, and go and join the ‘more socially accepted people’.
Hopefully, you will see how ‘unsociably accepted’ you are, and you just might realise how ‘accepting people for who they are’ is what ‘being a friend’ is all about !!!

Get a Grip!!

I was one of the unpopular, nerdy girls you are talking about.
In actuality, I figured out that the "Wanna Be" would hang out with me and my Friends because she thought "Hangers On" would show the "Popular People" that she had "A Following". HAH!!
We were showing "The World" that she had less Self Confidence than we did!!! She would be with us to prove a point and we were LAUGHING the whole way!!
Believe me!! Do not feel sorry for "The Geeks". They will make more money than you and be Happier in their lives.
THEY DO NOT CARE WHAT THE POPULAR PEOPLE THINK!!

I agre with RM 100%.
Why don't you be the one that makes the change we need to see in this world by not choosing one over the other . Hang out with both groups. Just be cool about it ... If you feel sorry for the nerds then you are not really being their friend. Don't ever feel sorry for anyone, because then you will become sorry yourself....So if you really can't help but feel sorry for the nerdy group then do them a favor and don't hang out with them anymore.

its ur attitude thts making u suffer, i hang around ppl i dont like all the time, im one of the most hated ppl in my school. those so called popular ppl are not worth a **** usually. they will desert you if you become unpopular. and besides, the geeks can help you out a lot better than those idiots who you think are your friends. and by the way, no one likes being called a nerd whe most people are not, yet they are called that. it is not their fault that they are smarter than you (actuall, it's yours). should you decide to insult my answer, come chat on yim with me, i love to **** stupid peole off. note: i choose not to use correct spelling and punctuation.)

I hate to tell you but I have two absolutely gorgeous girls who are now married to the biggest nerds in the world.....in college, they never trusted the "cool rugged men"...They were wise as nerds (either male or female) make the best spouses in the world. Both couples have all kinds of friends.

First off if you feel sorry for someone you because they aren't popular then you were never their friend to begin with. You should be a bit more honest with yourself....you were only hanging around them because they don't pose a threat to your popularity. Do THEM a favor and move on.

I took driver's ed. in high school with 3 cheerleaders in the car, we were assigned together. I listened to them talk bad about my ugly friends. And all I felt was disgust at their lack of compassion and kindness. My own mother once told me how ugly my best friend was. There are two sets of looks, inner and outer beauty. Take your choice.

Which group do you want to be with? If you really like the nerdy friends and enjoy being with them, why change. If you don't like them, why stay?

Why don't you do the "geeks" a favor and leave, since you aren't their true friends anyways. I doubt they really look up to someone who is so full of themselves.
